Time-lapse calcium imaging showing the neural activity in SMT of female mouse at alloparental day 1
Description
The authors investigated the neural activity of the submedius thalamus (SMT) during the parental behavior of retrieving pups at two maternal stages: AP1 (alloparental day 1), AP2 (alloparental day 2). A virgin female showing more than ten pup-retrievals across two 6-min imaging sessions for the first day was defined as AP1 and the day following AP1 was defined as AP2. At AP1 and AP2, the pup-retrievals were examined using pups born from another female mouse. For the calcium imaging, the transgenic female mouse (Tnnt1-Cre; Ai162 mouse) expressing GCaMP6s in the SMT_{Tnnt1} neurons was used. The signal of GCaMP6s was obtained through gradient refractive index (GRIN) lens (500 micrometres in diameter, 6.1 millimeter length; Inscopix) implanted above the SMT. This dataset includes the imaging data at AP1. The data at AP2 obtained from the same female mouse are deposited in other datasets in this project; Fig3_Tnnt1_Ai162_SMT_F5_211007_AP2
